Schnittstelle für Drahtlose Energie und Datenübertragung unter Wasser

6 August 2025 by
Laura Neumann

Projektanforderung

Development of a reliable interface for data and energy transmission up to 60 m depth (5 bar).

The solution should not only enable the supply of accessories such as a control unit with a display, but additionally:

  • automatic detection when a device is plugged in
  • secure execution of software updates directly via the interface

A complex task that focused on safety, robustness, and reliability.

Analyse & Konzeptphase

At the beginning, a detailed analysis of the technical framework conditions was carried out. In an internal brainstorming session, several approaches were developed and evaluated.

The two most promising concepts were developed further and elaborated as the basis for the next project phases.

Machbarkeitsanalyse

Before the actual construction, the validation of technical feasibility was carried out:

  • Determination of the maximum transferable energy for a given size
  • first tests for stable data transmission
  • Alignment of all customer requirements with realistic technical possibilities

Konstruktion & Umsetzung

In iterative development cycles and close coordination with the client, we created and optimised various design variants. Special focuses:

  • robust sealing concepts for underwater applications
  • mechanical stability under pressure
  • Service friendliness and updatability

Thus, a solution developed step by step that is both technically demanding and practical at the same time.

Prototypen & Tests

Based on the design, prototypes were manufactured and extensively tested:

  • Laboratory tests for fine adjustment
  • Tests in freshwater, saltwater, and turbid water
  • Load tests at different depths and pressure environments

The tests confirmed full functionality and provided important insights for production readiness.

Serienüberleitung

The series transfer took place in several stages:

  • Null series: final assurance through comprehensive testing
  • Engineering Series: Small Series for Validation in Real-World Use
  • Series production: Upscaling including data preparation, supplier communication and procurement

Ergebnis

  • Energieübertragung 10W für Steuereinheit
  • Datenübertragung BIDIRECTIONAL: 1 Mbit/s Datenrate
  • Schutzklasse: IP69k, Temperaturbereich –20 °C bis +60 °C
  • Steuerung: MCU-basiertes Power-Management mit Echtzeit-Monitoring
